Huge hugs out to everyone that gave me so much loving support in my last rant of a post. No, I didn't answer any of the emails, and I'm sorry. Just know your comments and hugs meant so much to me, and my parents actually read the post and all of the comments as well.
I'm down at my parents right now, and getting settled in. Trying to find space for all of the stuff I've brought down in 3 carloads, and 10 boxes shipped via UPS. Most of it is actually stitching stash. I didn't have any clue why I was taking so much stitching stuff, until my friend Nancy (one of the ladies from Shepherd's Bush) told me it was my security blanket. That makes total sense. But I also brought my blankie too (a red and white plaid down throw).
I've come to the realization that my mother is a hoarder. Not as bad as what you see on TV, but still a hoarder. Instead of getting rid of old crap that will never ever be used again when she was making space for me in the room I'm staying in, she just moved it to a different area of the house. They have a big house, and its totally jam-packed.
I'm slowly catching up on blogs and blogging. I got the background changed on mine, but still need to update the header. That involves firing up the big PC and playing around with photos, and time. Sheesh, time, it seems like I've spent all of my time hanging Christmas lights and doing other stuff around the house. Call me Scrooge, but I was seriously asking myself if Christmas lights and decorations are worth the effort.
Before I left Ogden, the ladies from Shepherd's Bush and most of the EGA chapter I belong to got together to have dinner with me. Just a simple dinner at Noodles, but we totally monopolized a third of their sitting space for over 2 hours. It was a lot of fun, and meant a lot to me. After, Jill went back to her studio and did some framing for me, so I could take it before leaving. Total surprise to me, and unexpected. That woman is a workhorse. She was texting me pictures at 10 pm, asking me how I liked something, and was in the studio working until 11 pm. Believe it or not, that's actually normal for her.
It seems I left Ogden just in time. Hours after driving out of town, a storm front moved in and they had winds gusting over 100 mph. I had some wind down in Las Vegas that night, and heard it howling all night long, but nothing as bad as further north. I stopped complaining about not sleeping well when I heard most of my friends in Ogden were without power, and then the temps dropped to frigid cold temps.
Sorry, this is going to be a boring post without any pictures, but maybe this afternoon I'll get some time to play with the camera, computer and some software and do a more "fun" post. I just wanted to let everyone know I'm hanging in there, and adjusting to my new situation.
Glad to hear you made it safely and are settling in. Hang in there!

ReplyDeleteI heard about that wind storm in Utah. So glad you missed that! Glad too that you got to say goodbye to everyone. I hope you settle in well and things go well for you. I don't blame you for feeling a bit like Scrooge right now. Try to enjoy the season if you can.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's a good sign that you missed the storm. Hope you manage to miss a lot more storms as time passes.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are settling in. I know that your life is so different now.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see some stitching soon.
Enjoy those Xmas lights!
It is great to hear from you Mindi. I believe it will get better with time.
ReplyDeleteGuess what I bought one night in a moment of weakness on the Bay of Evil....Yep, Halloween Rules and I am making it my New Year's stitch. Wanna stitch along together on this next year?
Glad to hear you are settling in. I noticed my mom is a bit of a hoarder too. She has a hall closet with nothing but plastic grocery sacks full of paperback books. Many of which she has 2 or more copies of, but won't get rid of any of them.
ReplyDeleteMore prayers for a new job-all the best!
It's good to hear your move went well, Mindi. I'm sure there will be many adjustments, but at least that gorgeous weather that San Diego is known for will help :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with settling in and feeling at home...
